The is the same BEACH WIP that Igor and I worked on, except in this one, I used Volumes to render the White Water w/PYRO Shader, instead of Points and custom shader. Some changes were made to the fluid interior shader as well -- gradient ramp to color the water at various depths, and smoke opacity based on depth... I will show you how to create a simple smoke simulation in Houdini and then how to export certain frames of that simulation out of Houdini using vdb so that we can import the smoke simulation into cinema 4d and then light and render it using Octane Render.
I wanted to test the new Position-Based Dynamics Solver with a Bullet Destruction Simulation to see how it would perform. I have also been watching Game of Thrones and saw the amazing work that Scanline did on the FX. So I had to do a test with a disintegrating skeleton in the snow, like you do! :D I used Voronoi Fracture and Bullet to simulate the skeleton destruction. Initially I found that I had a lot of small pieces that were spinning out of control, I managed to fix this by adding a custom drag to the

This lesson covers how to import an .fbx character file and set it to the clip you want to use. Then you can make a crowd with that character and break up the uniformity of the crowd by using Randomize Clip Time and Randomize Scale options to offset the start of the clip for each character, as well as their size.

Second test on combining an animated character with Houdini's FEM. This time I followed a different approach, using a point deform to transfer the animation to the tetrahedron. On hindsight I could tweak the simulation more as there is some penetration occurring.
When upgrading their animation pipeline, Montreal's SHED Animation evaluated several software platforms. They selected Houdini based on its non-destructive workflow and integrated end-to-end pipeline feature set. SHED used the development of their animated short teaser "Outside" as the first project to transition to the new pipeline.
